These aren't really regular projects, in fact I've only really done one short audio thing since leaving university, but I think this section of my portfolio shows that I've got an ability to display inventive camera work and pretty solid audio editing (if not equipment.) |

The Manipulations of Enormouschicken (2004)
OK, so this is just a daft, totally over the top Doctor Who pastiche, created as an audio counterpart to an online story (Season 2, Episode 24 - see the written section of this site.) I provide all the voices for this one.
If you're not a Doctor Who fan, you probably won't get most of it, but you might want to check out my impersonation of the bloke on the Personal Injury helpline adverts with the flapping jowls.
Apologies for the crackles by the way - old microphone.

Castaway Audio (2002)
A five minute audio created for a 'soundscapes' project. The brief told us to create a five minute piece of sound, so we took the flexibility of the brief and created an aural extravaganza that tells the story of a man whose plane crashes in the sea near a desert island. He's the only survivor. Of course, it turns out that it was all a dream, or was it?
My own contributions to this piece were in collecting sound effects we could use, some sound editing, general storyline input and providing the voice of the crash survivor - yes, that's me doing an american accent yet again. I also play the co-pilot screaming something like "Bravo Echo Two Niner, we have multiple engine failures and we are going down."

Daisy Cutter - 'New Day' music video (2002)
One of my group members for this video production project knew the band and suggested we film a music video for them. It turned out to be the funniest week or so I had at university, and both the band and our group were pleased with the results. We created an interactive CD onto which the video and various other bits and pieces could be placed, but unfortunately, getting it to work on someone's system is slightly fiddly so I've just uploaded the music video.
There are one or two sections I feel could have been improved, but let's not forget we had about four other projects on the go at the same time.
My contributions to the video included the bulk of the camerawork (standing in the pouring rain with a brolly tucked into my pants in order to protect the camera at the garden centre springs to mind) and suggestions as to what should be included in the video.

Be Inspired Video (2001)
A short piece that attempts to convey to kids the message that reading is fun and that doing it often enough may lead to excellent employment opportunities.
It features various different elements - music, flash animation, images and video. Once we had settled on the two music tracks we would use, it was my responsibility to blend them together in such a way that they would also fit what was being shown on screen. I used ProTools for this.

Doctor Sooty & The Gopher Invasion Video (2001)
I told you I'd get it uploaded sooner or later. It's mad, it's sad, and it's laughably bad, but for some reason I still love it. It's a reminder of those early uni days when I had the whole world at my feet.
Points of note - 1. I wrote the script, although we ran out of time to finish filming it all, you can read it here. 2. My voice acting here is pretty poor, due to having to read a script, manage two puppets and liaise with director/secondary puppeteer all at the same time. 3. Voice of Pooh provided by Stuart Howe. 4. The video quality is poor, because I was only given a video copy and I've had no end of trouble compressing it into a single file. 5. There seems to be some TV recording on the end which is non-removable with the equipment I have, as the re-render somehow converts the file from 19Mb into 177Mb.
That's about it, I hope you find it as amusing as I did (and still do.)
