Interactive Portfolio
This section of my portfolio focuses on two interactive projects I undertook while at university. The VRML Bradford City Stadium was an individual project, while Spaceman Spiff Vs. The Paranoids was a group project.

It should be noted that while I am fully capable of VRML creation and editing, I could not, with my current level of knowledge, create a game similar to Spaceman Spiff without someone to code for it.

IMPORTANT

In order to be able to view the VRML Stadium, you need to download and install the Cortona VRML client. Click here to do so.

In order to be able to play the Spaceman Spiff game, you need to install the Macromedia Shockwave player. Click here then click the 'install now' button to do so.

VRML Image VRML - Futuristic Bradford City Stadium (2002)

This is a 3D realisation of a modified Bradford City Stadium (Valley Parade.) WHEN we get back into the Premiership, obviously ;)

Interactive elements include being able to choose several different camera views (click on the view text in between the two arrows in the VRML browser), take a free kick + penalty, walk/fly around the stadium using the correct mode (left menu bar) and your keyboard's arrow keys. Apologies for the crowd chant, sound was a project requirement.

This project could have been undertaken in one of two ways. I could have modelled the objects in Lightwave (which would have allowed for much more complex and realistic 3D models) and imported them into the code, or I could model them using the code directly. I chose to hand code all models for the simple reason that it would allow me to get to grips with the coding system and provide a more thorough understanding of the techniques involved.

Spaceman Spiff Image Game - Spaceman Spiff Vs The Paranoids (2002)

A university group project, bringing together graphics, animation and code to create a basic three level computer game.

The project brief specified that each level must be a different type of game. Therefore, we went for a quiz, a time crisis style fixed point 'shoot the pop-up baddies' game and a Space Invaders style space shooter.

Each section is linked by an intro to that level and a text continuation of the overarching plot (which begins with the intro.) If you die on the second or third levels, you get a screen related to the type of death suffered.

My contributions to the project were, in order of appearance - opening screen showing Spiff, the Earth and part of a Paranoid, menu buttons, intro text, quiz questions, level 2 intro text, level 2 death screen (shown if you fail), level 3 intro text, level 3 graphics, level 3 death screen (show if you fail) and the end game winning screen.

I should probably point out that none of the spelling mistakes in the final version of the game were in the original text files I sent in, and I'm currently trying to get hold of the Director files so that I can modify those sections.
