B-Side - Heartbreaker
Lyrics

They have a history together

They were gonna go out

Before he left her

He only lives on my road

She already knows exactly

Where to go

And I worry

Perhaps I worry too much

I know he’s going to mess her up

And if she feels inclined

She’ll leave a broken man behind

-

HE’S BACK FROM AMERICA

HE’S COMING TO TAKE HER

HE WANTS TO MAKE HER INTO

A HEARTBREAKER

A HEARTBREAKER

-

He asked her indirectly

Would she wanna go out

On Saturday night

But if she's planning to leave

I’m not going down so easy

Without a fight

Can’t take it

I can’t take anymore

We had better have a talk

And if she really wants to go

She’ll leave me sinking, full of holes

-

HE’S BACK FROM AMERICA

HE’S COMING TO TAKE HER

HE’S TRYING TO MAKE HER INTO

A HEARTBREAKER

A HEARTBREAKER

HE’S BACK FROM AMERICA

HE’S CHANGED HIS CHARACTER

NOW HE WANTS TO CHANGE HER INTO

A HEARTBREAKER

A HEARTBREAKER

-

He thinks he’s more attractive

I think his act’s pathetic

But can she see it?

Some say it’s paranoia

But I've seen his behav iour

Towards her

-

HE’S BACK FROM AMERICA

HE’S COMING TO TAKE HER

HE’S TRYING TO MAKE HER INTO

A HEARTBREAKER

A HEARTBREAKER

A HEARTBREAKER
Lowdown

This time it's personal. Literally. I wrote this aged 17, and it's about an almost-ex-boyfriend of someone I used to date returning from America and expecting to pick up where he left off.

I didn't know whether she was interested or not, and as it turned out she thought he was just trying to be friendly. I clocked him a mile off, but it took my letting them (after much persuasion admittedly) go out together as friends for her to realise what he was really up to. (He went for the lip wrestle and she jumped out of the ring.)

Still, it had me fair worried for a while.

It's a B-side because something about the tune doesn't quite gel in the way I want it to.
