Lyrics
Restless, sleepless
Answer, senseless
I only asked her yesterday
If she’d go out with me
She said she’d think about it and
My heart skipped a beat
I don’t think I can exist
Much longer in this state
I’m love drunk, I admit
I’m dying to go on a date
-
WILL YOU SAY YES?
AND IF SO, WHEN?
DON’T KEEP ME HANGING
HOLDING MY BREATH
IF YOU SAY NO
AT LEAST I’LL KNOW
TOO MUCH TO ASK? DON’T
LEAVE ME IN LIMBO
-
Helpless, nervous
Answer, useless
A cup of tea won’t do for me
Or a cig to calm my nerves
I’m far too jittery
I think it’s getting worse
Fool to be like this
Maybe she’s testing
How long should that take?
Keeping me second-guessing
-
WILL YOU SAY YES?
AND IF SO, WHEN?
DON’T KEEP ME HANGING
HOLDING MY BREATH
IF YOU SAY NO
AT LEAST I’LL KNOW
TOO MUCH TO ASK? DON’T
LEAVE ME IN LIMBO
-
Yes or No, Yes or No, Not Limbo

Lowdown
Limbo's about the conflicting feelings you have when you're waiting to find out if someone's going to date you. The first two lines of each verse are thoughts, while the rest of the verse is mostly feelings.
You don't want to push things, because that might scare them away, but at the same time, you don't want to simply let them tell you when they're ready, because that gives them all the power.
In the end, you just want a straight answer. Then whatever it is, you can get on with your life.
