The Day
Lyrics

We’re all leaving now

Some of us may not return

We don’t like change

We’re trying to come to terms

But it’s all over unless we get what we deserve

It’s decision-making time, or so I’ve heard!

-

THE DAY HAS COME

THE DAY IS HERE

IT’S TIME TO STAND

AND FIGHT THE FEAR

THE DAY IS BRIGHT

THE DAY IS CLEAR

LET’S HAVE SOME FUN

HOLD BACK THE TEARS

-

It’s time to vacate

There’s oh so much we need to learn

Life’s Golden Gate

Is telling us to see the world

But it’s all pointless, it just seems so absurd

We’re on an ever-increasing difficulty curve!

-

THE DAY HAS COME

THE DAY IS HERE

IT’S TIME TO STAND

AND FIGHT THE FEAR

THE DAY IS BRIGHT

THE DAY IS CLEAR

LET’S HAVE SOME FUN

HOLD BACK THE TEARS

-

When I look back on my life

I’ll see the things I used to know

And then with hindsight

Be glad I went where I did go

Glad I went, where I did go

-

THE DAY HAS BEEN

THE DAY HAS GONE

BUT AT THE TIME

IT SEEMED LIKE FUN

THE GRASS WAS GREEN

AND WE WERE YOUNG

YEAH OUR LIVES

HAD JUST BEGUN!
Lowdown

I wrote this when my year were doing their GCSEs, which seems like aeons ago now (to quote Green Day, seven years has gone so fast.)

As it happened, I was going back to do 'A' levels, but I knew that some people were definitely feeling the sense of loss that comes with the end of an era, so I tried to encapsulate that feeling in a song.
