B-Side - The Literary Deconstruction of Spying Canine
Lyrics

Where do some artists get their big egos?

Genetic? Hereditary? I don’t know

And what causes them to put their name

In every bloody song?

If they can’t find a word that rhymes

They stick their name in time after time

It’s not hard to find another line

That goes with the song

-

AND IF I SAID MY

NAME AS MANY TIMES AS SPYING CANINE

I’D BE A SUPERSTAR TOO

AND IF I SAID MY

NAME AS MANY TIMES AS SPYING CANINE

I’D BE A SUPERSTAR TOO

-

Songs should tell a story of a kind

Or convey how you’re feeling inside

What does repeating your name do?

Except advertise

I think I just hit upon the reasoning

For the constant mentioning

Sell it on the brand not the quality

You don’t know why you buy

-

AND IF I SAID MY

NAME AS MANY TIMES AS SPYING CANINE

I’D BE A SUPERSTAR TOO

AND IF I SAID MY

NAME AS MANY TIMES AS SPYING CANINE

I’D BE A SUPERSTAR TOO

-

It’s not individual

Tiresome lyrics recycled

No message in the same old bull

Maybe you should learn to write

Why do they buy this shite?

-

Venus and Serena in

The Wimbledon arena then

You couldn’t think of anything

That made an ounce of sense

Is editing too intense?

-

AND IF I SAID MY

NAME AS MANY TIMES AS SPYING CANINE

I’D BE A SUPERSTAR TOO

AND IF I SAID MY

NAME AS MANY TIMES AS SPYING CANINE

I’D BE A SUPERSTAR TOO

Lowdown

Ok, so you took one look at the title and thought 'ah this is one of those self-indulgent intelligent titles that's supposed to make everyone feel stupid.'

That's what I think when I see a title like this anyway. However, the simple fact is that 'spying canine' is a sly reworking of the name of a well known US rapper, whose lyrics happen to be complete arse, and whose songs tend to all be about the same thing.

I'll let you work out for yourselves who it is, but suffice to say this song is intended to take the piss out of him, and the people that buy all his stuff despite the fact any fool can see it's a bag of old donkey wank.

Bitter, moi?
